The week began with no school on Monday. That didn’t stop the students from putting in their work at the school, though. Student Council and NHS held beautification to help get the school ready for Prom.
Also on Monday, the CSA Reds traveled to Douglass for a double header.
The girls won their first game 10-9 against the Bulldogs. Junior Joslin Bartelson threw the whole game for the Reds, throwing seven innings, allowing 10 hits, nine runs (five earned), one walk, and eight strikeouts.
The girls had a strong offensive night as well. They collected 10 runs, nine hits, eight RBI’s, two walks, and 10 strikeouts.
The Reds also collected three out of the park home runs this game. Bartelson homered to left field in the first, sophomore Lanie Hartman homered to center field in the third, and freshman Sam Howard homered to center field in the fourth.
The second game against the Bulldogs ended up in a 7-6 victory for the Reds.
Senior Macie Hartman earned the win for the Reds. The righty threw seven innings and allowed five hits, six runs (three earned), five walks and four strikeouts.
The girls’ bats were going. The team collected seven runs, seven hits, five RBI’s, four walks, and five strikeouts.
Bartelson hit a two-run home run to begin the first inning, scoring Howard.
On the other field, the baseball team earned two victories as well.
Sophomore Gabe Tarrant started on the mound for the Reds. Tarrant threw six innings and allowed five hits, two runs (one earned), one walk, and five strikeouts.
The closer, senior Jase Downey, threw the seventh inning and allowed one hit, no runs, no walks, and no strikeouts.
The boys also had a good offensive night. They collected eight runs, five hits, three RBI’s, six walks, and 10 strikeouts. The team took the victory 8-2.
The boys won the second game 18-4.
Senior Nolan Warren started on the mound and threw five innings. Warren allowed seven hits, four runs (three earned), one walk, and six strikeouts.
Argonia freshman Taygen Tracey threw the final inning. He allowed no hits, no runs, no walks, and two strikeouts.
The boys had a strong offensive night. They collected 18 runs, eight hits, 14 RBI’s, 10 walks, and five strikeouts.
The boys JV tennis team traveled to Derby on Tuesday.
The track team traveled to Douglass on Tuesday, with both girls and boys teams bringing home first place.
For the girls running events, sophomore Jade Erker placed first in the 100 meter dash as well as the 200 meter dash. Freshman Brilee Haradon placed second in the 100 meter dash, and fifth in the 400 meter dash. Junior Delaney Jones finished fifth in the 100 meter dash. In the distance races, senior Sydney Zoglmann placed fifth in the mile and second in the two mile. Senior Miley Pauly won the 100 meter hurdles, sophomore Kaylin Finley placed second, and Klara Ast placed fifth. Pauly also finished first in the 300 meter hurdles, while Finley finished fourth. The girls 4×100 relay team finished first and the 4×400 relay team finished fourth.
In the field events, junior Lairen Pauly finished third in high jump and junior Addison Rusco finished fourth. In the long jump, Erker took first, Lairen took second, and Jones took third. Lairen also finished first in triple jump, freshman Paige Rusco placed third and sophomore Micah Wolke finished fifth. In the pole vault, junior Adysen Conkle finished fourth and Ast finished sixth.
Sophomore Bri King took first in both discus and shotput, followed by senior Hayley Pauly who finished second in both. In javelin, Jones took first place, Hayley took second, and King placed third. Junior Jaryn Zoglmann also finished fourth in the shot put.
For the boys running events, junior Joseph Howard finished third and junior Carson May finished sixth in the 100 meter dash. In the 200 meter dash, senior Braiden Coleman finished third. Coleman also took first in the 400 meter dash, with Howard taking third. In the long distance races, Gus Hemberger placed fourth in the mile and fourth in the two mile. In the 110 meter hurdles, senior Connor Koster took first and freshman Brody Warren placed fourth. Warren also placed second in the 300 meter hurdles. The 4×100 relay team finished third and the 4×400 relay team placed second. The 4×800 team also placed third in their race.
In the field events, Koster placed second in high jump, and sophomore Mason Zoglmann placed sixth. In long jump, May finished fifth. Koster also placed second in triple jump, senior Colton Friess placed third, and Howard placed fourth. In the pole vault, sophomore Ethan Partika placed second and Warren placed fifth.
In discus, senior Konner Bidwell placed sixth. Sophomore Bryce Osner placed fourth in javelin, and senior Cohen Newell placed fifth. Newell also placed third in shot put.
The boys tennis team traveled to Hillsboro on Thursday. Junior Ian May placed fourth in No. 2 singles. Seniors Joseph Beck and Eli Benge placed second in No. 1 doubles. Freshmen Hudson Stevens and Kaleb Zoglmann placed fifth in No. 2 Doubles. Junior Grayson Allen placed third in No. 1 singles..
The track team hosted a participation meet on Thursday. Junior Joseph Howard placed fourth in the 400 meter dash. Senior Braiden Coleman took first place in the 800 meter dash. The 4×100 relay team placed fourth, and the 4×400 relay team took third.
