The spring play, “Tuesdays With Mummy” by Wade Bradford was performed on March 27 and 28. The play was set in a tomb in Egypt where a powerful mummy, Thutmes III, was let loose to seek out a replacement fiancee to take into the afterlife. Prof. Melville Rigby, the one who uncovers Thutmes III, saves the other explorers and ultimately sends Thutmes III into the afterlife with his pet fish.
The cast recalled their favorite moments from the play.
“My favorite part about the play was getting to spin the sarcophagus with Sydney,” senior Bethany Hollis said, “because most of the time we were either really late or slightly early, and there were a good few times where we genuinely could not get it to move.”
Sophomore Gus Hemberger was tasked with playing Orlando Zumas, the old museum owner, and he chose to use a particular voice for the character.
“It took a couple weeks to figure out what to make it sound like and how to talk,” Hemberger said. “Once I got it down, it must have paid off because people said it was really good.”
Senior cast members Amelia Meyers and Konner Bidwell both said they were influenced by past members of theater to join.
“I’m gonna have to give it to Mya Scott, my predecessor; she was the upperclassman that took me in as a freshman and was like, ‘I can show you the world,’” Meyers said, “And the world was theater for me, and it really was great. And I probably wouldn’t have done it without her encouragement.”
