The powerlifting team hosted both the Conway Springs Invitational and the 1A State meet, with both the Mens and Womens divisions winning second at the State meet.
Despite the pressure of a home-court advantage, lifters like junior Delaney Jones stayed calm.
“I just know that they’re not usually watching you,” Jones said. “They’re focused on themselves.”
Staying locked in during a long day of lifting was a challenge in itself, but the competitive atmosphere kept the lifters energized.
“I just watch other people lift, and I like the competition,” senior Adon Rodriguez said.
For those who pushed through, the reward wasn’t just a number on a scoreboard or a medal, but a sense of personal growth.
“(I feel) a lot of pride and more confidence in myself knowing that I can improve over time,” sophomore Ethan Partika said.
