The varsity girls basketball team went 17-4 prior to Substate. Substate started on Feb. 26 with a home game against Republic County.
“We battled through that adversity,” junior Joslin Bartelson said. “They were definitely a rough team so we’re not used to that play style but we matched it, and we made it even better.”
The girls won 45-13 and progressed on to play Berean Academy March 3. The girls won 54-36 and went undefeated at all home games.
“They went undefeated at home and didn’t lose all year in this building, and they played as many games as you could possibly play in here, which I think is a testament to them and a really neat thing for them to do and achieve,” head coach Brent Gunderson said.
The girls played in the Substate finals against Sacred Heart at Berean Academy March 6. The girls wrapped up their season with a final score of 34-59.
