This year there were 18 people out for girls basketball. There were many reasons why girls joined the team.
“I like the community that we’ve built and the teamwork and communication we have,” junior Lairen Pauly said.
Brett Gunderson took over as head coach this year. Gunderson decided to do something outside of basketball with the girls. Going out for sports can leave impactful and favorite memories.
“Coach Gundy’s Christmas party at his house (was my favorite memory) because we did a fun secret santa,” sophomore Micah Wolke said.
This was the third head coach in three years for the team.
“You have to learn that every coach has a different system and way of coaching,” senior Macie Hartman said. “Having to learn all of that has been challenging, but I feel like it has been for the best, and I hope this coach will stay around.”
The JV girls have a league tournament next week, and the varsity girls play in the Mulvave Wildcat Classic the following week.
