The dance team was a small and young one this year. That didn’t stop them, though; they worked hard and even got to choreograph some of their own dances.
“We have a lot (of say in the choreography and music selection),” freshman Josie Ebenkamp said. “(Sponsor) Rachel (Erker) lets us do our own thing and pick our own songs a lot.”
Just because the team was young this year didn’t mean they hadn’t improved. Everyone felt that they had improved as the season progressed.
“(My dancing style and confidence has) changed significantly from whenever I was a freshman,” sophomore Kaelynn Downey said. “I felt like I was kind of out of it, and this year, I feel way more confident in what I’m doing.”
The dance team spent a lot of time together practicing their dances. Many girls said that all this time together has made them closer on and off the floor.
“I feel like you learn a lot about someone at 5:30 in the morning,” junior Adysen Conkle said. “I would say we all grow closer together, knowing that we all put forth the effort so early to make something happen.”
