FACS students were everything from bakers, to designers, to financial planners. They traded tests and books for hands-on skills that would last a lifetime, skills like sewing, career planning, and thinking about their values, beliefs, and futures.
“I never thought I’d be able to put into words what my values in life are,” senior Bethany Hollis said. “We spent two weeks working on what our values in life are.”
In Nutrition and Wellness, students learned about the science behind food and how to keep a healthy lifestyle, while also having fun cooking and baking in the kitchen.
“A success was probably making really good smoothies, like the best ones of all the classes,” sophomore Alex Lange said. “A disaster is that we spilled Chex Mix everywhere,”
Human Growth and Development was more about children and parenting. One of their major projects was taking care of a RealCare baby. Junior Jaryn Zoglmann said the project was really fun and taught her a lot.
“I’m excited to be a mom. It showed me a lot about parenting and just understanding the child,” Zoglmann said.
