The girls basketball team ended this season with a 15-6 record, with a roster of 29 girls led by three seniors. The team got a new coach in the 24-25 season: business teacher Andrew Gower, leading the girls to learn a whole new playbook and a new coaching style.
“My favorite [play] was pickle,” said sophomore Delaney Jones. “I feel like our team runs it well, and I like saying the name.”
The girls said they made many memories.
“Riding in a suburban with Alyssa to the Marion tournament [was my favorite memory],” said senior Raylee Chittwood. “It was good bonding with the team.”
Though the team still had things to work on, Jones said having a new coach helped with some issues.
“We all changed our mindsets to what a successful team thinks,” she said.
Though the season ended with a Sub-State loss to the Remington Broncos, the good memories were what stood out.
“[My favorite memory was] when Brooke high-fived the ref because she thought it was her teammate,” said junior Sadie Koester with a smile. “Afterwards, the ref came back to give her a high-five when he dismissed her.”
