On Monday, March 1, boys basketball played Sedan in the first round of sub-state. The girls played Garden Plain on Tuesday, March 2.

Sedan was ranked number one and Conway Springs was ranked number eight. The Cardinals beat Sedan 53-40 in an upset to the bracket. The boys basketball team moved on to the second round and played Thursday, March 4.

“I wasn’t worried going into the Sedan game because we knew they were from a whole different conference and didn’t play as tough of teams as we did,” senior Jonathan Wright said. “I was happy when we came out on top and ready to move into the next round against Garden Plain.”

Conway Springs played against Garden Plain at 8 p.m. in Garden Plain. The Cardinals lost to the Owls  41-49. This ended their season with a record of 5-14.

“I felt sad and defeated,” junior Derrick Smith said. “This year was a good and a fun experience with the senior boys.”

The girls basketball team played Garden Plain on Tuesday March 2. Garden Plain girls were ranked number two while Conway was ranked number seven overall. The final score was 22-55. The Cardinal girls ended their season with a record of 4-17.

“I knew it was going to be a tough game, but we played hard,” freshman Haylee Osner said. “I was sad it was the last game of the season.”
