FCCLA (Family, Consumer, Community Leaders of America) raised money throughout the year to fund competitions and conferences. Though FCCLA was small in number, which limited the amount of community outreach and projects they could do, the group did what they could.
One fundraiser worked by the students in FCCLA was a bake sale during Fall Fest.
“I liked making cookies for the bake sale,” sophomore Jade Erker said. “It was fun to come in after school and hang out with new people I don’t normally talk to.”
FCCLA also organized service projects for the community, such as senior Savannah Reames’ Tree of Hope project done in the park in December.
“She helped set up the Christmas tree in the park, while creating a mental health memorial project for the lighting,” sponsor Emma Willert said. “She was able to contact Sumner County Mental Health and all proceeds she received were donated directly to them.”
Another event that FCCLA hosted was the pop shop fundraiser, where the group let people send a can of pop to their “crush, friend, or opp.”
“The pop shop (was my favorite) because I got to be with other students and go around the school,” sophomore Daisy Severe said.
