At league on Oct. 6, the varsity tennis team placed first overall, defending that title for two years in a row.
“[My favorite memory was] winning league as a team,” junior Addison Rusco said.
The team members said they had improved on certain weaknesses to get ready for regionals and state.
“We have gotten better at low volleys,” senior Sadie Koester said.
Regionals were on Oct. 10-11 at home. The team earned first overall, and everyone on the team made it to State. Seniors and doubles partners Morgan Koester and Sadie Koester earned first place, and seniors and doubles partners Maddy Stevens and Hayley Pauly got second. Rusco got second and senior Aliette Potts got third place in the singles division.
The team faced a lot of struggles to get that far.
“I have struggled with my confidence this year,” Stevens said.
State was Oct. 16-17 in Salina at the Salina Tennis Alliance Tennis Center. At State, the team placed second, with doubles partners Morgan and Sadie placing second, Stevens and Pauly placing third, and Rusco placing seventh.
