The first event of this year’s “Secret Garden” prom was prom preview. Students were announced by their name, their favorite high school memory, advice for future prom-goers, and what car they drove, although some took this in a different direction and drove a boat on wheels to prom. There were 79 high schoolers who attended prom preview.
Two sophomores were chosen to help plan and then attend prom by Steering Committee. The two sophomores were Carson May and Delaney Jones.
“Me and Carson came to prom preview in a Dodge Charger,” Jones said.
After they walked up, students took a few pictures and went inside the high school. During prom, they had dinner and a dance. The students were served food and drinks catered by Hired Man’s Grocery and Grill. The junior class raised money for the meal, the DJ, and the decorations throughout the year.
“For dinner I had chicken, mashed potatoes, a roll, and some ice cream, but my favorite was the chicken,” senior Riley Fevella said.
At the dance, the prom king, queen, prince, and princess were announced. Seniors Isaac Winter and Ava Daniel were king and queen, and juniors Konner Bidwell and Morgan Koester were prince and princess.
“I was pretty surprised that I was picked as prom queen,” Daniel said. “I’m not really the most outgoing person.”
