The softball season started with practice on March 19, and with regionals next week, the program is 11-8. Sophomore Reece Johnson said the season is going well so far.
“I think this season is so much better than last year with the amount of effort and coachability by all the players,” she said.
The freshmen on the team have less experience than the upperclassmen.
“I think the season is going super well, especially for being a new program trying to compete with ones that have been around for multiple years,” freshman Delaney Jones said.
During practices and games, the girls said they must communicate to have a good game.
“Communication and a good positive mindset [help a team work together],” freshman Adysen Conkle said. “The team in general is a great team, which makes it fun.”
Three girls also do track in addition to softball.
“Most of the time when I get to practice I’m already tired from track, but I feel like the time goes by faster when my teammates and I are having fun,” Jones said.
Conkle said the dynamic between the players is very important.
“To have a good season, we’ve all just been good friends here to have fun,” Conkle said. “The upperclassmen don’t get too annoyed, or at least don’t let it show.”
