On March 9, the annual Invitational Powerlifting meet was held at Conway Springs. The CSHS junior girl’s and boy’s team took first in their divisions while the men’s team took fourth place.
Conway had many individual students place, including freshman Delaney Jones, who placed first.
“I was surprised I got first in most of my events,” Jones said. “I think my teammates helped me out a lot.”
Many powerlifters said they felt many different emotions during their lift.
“I kind of try to feel a little angry,” sophomore Isaiah Rivera said. “But really, I’m just chilling, trying to build confidence within myself that I can do the lift.”
State powerlifting was also held at Conway on March 23. Many students received medals in their competitions.
“I am very happy about how I performed as an individual,” sophomore Reece Johnson said. “I made a bunch of new personal records, and I had a bunch of fun.”
Johnson placed first overall in her weight class.
