This year SCKMEA auditions were held in Goddard. From those auditions, sophomores Erica Zoglmann and Ashton Stull made it into the district band. District band was held Dec. 2 at Maize. The band practiced throughout the day and then performed their concert for friends and family to watch.
“I thought they put on a nice concert,” band director Stephanie Bodley said. “They now have the opportunity to audition for All-State Band and if they don’t make it into All-State they can still audition for the 1A/2A band.”
Zoglmann earned the second chair for oboe in the band. In January, those who made it into district band can audition for All-State Band in Salina.
“I thought that the music was harder [than last year],” Zoglmann said. “It was fun. I look forward to State again.”
Stull earned the fifth chair tuba spot. “[Auditioning for district band] was terrifying. I thought I butchered my audition, but I didn’t apparently,” Stull said. “I thought we did great during the concert.”
