The well known Jurassic Park franchise gained a new addition this summer. “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom” starts with the island that the dinosaurs are on being destroyed. Few dinosaurs are rescued, only to be exploited. The surviving dinosaurs are auctioned off at a secret event, but the plot twists as the dinosaurs escape and run free.

This theme of rescued and exploited dinosaurs is one that occurs in each Jurassic movie. Exploitation of the dinosaurs became a regular theme in these movies and causes each one to become less original and more boring.

Repetitiveness can be a good thing in a movie in certain regards; however, this theme and plot line has been repeated too much. Returning characters, especially Jeff Goldblum in this case, is a good repeated aspect to a movie. Another enjoyable part of the movie was the realistic and relatable plot with the secret auction. However, the main idea/theme being repeated made the movie less enjoyable. The movie lacked a different, in a interesting way, view on new ideas and events.

Even though the movie’s overall dry/boring plot made it less exciting, it was not completely unbearable. With the movie being based on dinosaurs, it was full of action and scares: there were even times I was on the edge of my seat. However, looking at the big picture, the repeating story making the movie boring and made the thrills not so thrilling. I give this movie three out of five cardinal heads.
