The Cross country team, led by head coach Craig Frederick, has had a rocky start to the season due to sports related injuries to a couple of the runners early in the practice season. Other players said they are looking forward to the potential of the season when all runners are fully recovered.
“I’m looking forward to seeing everyone’s PRs and keep pushing us to be the best,” senior Sydney Zoglmann said. “And hopefully, maybe if we can get our boys team healthy again, maybe we can even have a team title somewhere along the way.”
Even though some players have missed out on the first few meets, the practices have not slowed in intensity to keep the team in the best shape.
“(The practices have) been all right, really hard, but we’re getting after it,” senior Isaiah Rivera said. “I can tell Frederick’s really pushing us more this year than he has in the past years. So it’s interesting, but, I mean, it’s working.”
Despite the rough practices and meets, junior Heath Daniel said there were still highlights to his season so far.
“I like pre meets,” he said. “We can hang out. We play games. We were not there only to eat but were able to just chill out with the team.”
