The spring play, “The Actor Games” by Wade Bradford, took place on March 28 and 29. “The Actor Games” was a Hunger Games parody that showed different styles of acting competing against each other. The actors participated in many different games that determined if they could stay in the game or were forced to take a random punishment from the Fallback Wheel.
Junior Amelia Meyers, who played the actor from the musical district, was the first to be eliminated but still participated by holding signs and playing a crew member.
The play also included a pre-recorded sports commentator show called “Gameday at the Actor Games,” written by production manager Tamara Salisbury. Senior Gabe Murphy played the part of commentator Ree Torso.
“I liked the part where I got to cry a lot,” he said.
One student was a part of the play with no lines. Freshman Gus Hemberger was a crew member and his tasks included dragging eliminated actors offstage, spinning the Fallback Wheel, and bringing on other various props, such as a cardboard train.
“I enjoyed not having any lines but still having funny parts in the play,” Hemberger said.
Some students had a few characters to play throughout the show. Freshman Kaelynn Downey was a robotic mother at the beginning of the play and was also featured as a dramatic commentator.
“I got to be horrible for one part and over the top for another,” she said.
