CSHS offers a variety of different science classes to students. Some students took the class they felt would align best with their future or just for fun.
Students have the opportunity to take Chemistry with Chris Bellar for college credit. Doing labs is a big part of this class.
“My favorite lab was called the ‘Yellow Brick Road,’” junior Anna Bender said. “It was my favorite because Mr. Bellar dressed up as a character called Mr. Brown.”
In this class, students had the opportunity to participate in an annual celebration called Mole Day. Students came in before school and the two chemistry classes competed in the Molympics.
“One of my favorite parts of Mole Day was when Sydney smashed an avocado everywhere during the avogadro toss,” Bender said.
In Animal Science taught by new teacher Shelby Henley, students learned about the body parts and systems of animals and then got to dissect them.
“We dissected a cow uterus, so that was pretty interesting,” senior Madi Campbell said. “We took the fetuses out of them.”
The science class previously known as physical science had its name changed to conceptual physics. This class is taught by Brent Martens.
“Learning about the periodic table is the most difficult part of this subject,” junior Britanna Finley said. “Bonding the ions is confusing sometimes.”
