On Jan. 29, the students involved in FBLA went to the District V Conference hosted at Kingman. Students competed against other schools with tests and projects. This was Conway’s first year participating in an FBLA conference.
“We were trying to find the other schools that did video productions and bounce off ideas to learn more since this is our first year in FBLA,” senior Christian Shulte said. “We were trying to learn as much as possible.”
Students could prepare presentations prior to the event to be judged, they could also take tests and participate in role-playing events.
“I did the client surfaces project,” freshman Kaelynn Downey said. “It was like a role-playing event where I had to sell something to a company, in this instance it was a restaurant where I had to sell the idea of holiday color changing cups. I also did a spreadsheet application and word processing that I worked on prior to the event.”
As of Feb. 10, the placings have not come in yet. Sophomore Lucas Billups participated in a project along with sophomores Joe Howard and Lucas Pauly.
“I feel like in graphic design we have a good chance in placing,” Billups said. “The judges said they liked our presentation.”
FBLA plans on attending the state conference [insert date]. Schulte along with some other senior boys, plan on doing a presentation about community service.
“We plan to do community service at the nursing home and the park,” Schulte said. “We’ll hopefully fix up some stuff and make it look nicer.”
