Business teacher Andrew Gower taught four different classes this school year, two of which were required classes for students: Computer Technology and Business Communications/Financial Literacy. He taught two elective classes: Business Essentials/Investing and Accounting I. Computer Technology is a required class for all freshmen.
Gower had the Computer Technology students do some fun projects to learn about different software programs.
“My favorite project has been the cookbook that we had to do on Microsoft Word,” freshman Brody Friess said. “We had to come up with three recipes of our favorite food and format it and make sure they have the correct font sizes and no errors.”
In Business Communications students learned how to do interviews, write business letters, and get more comfortable talking in front of a group of people.
Students in this class did an informal speech to teach their peers a topic they are passionate about.
“I chose why I hate country music because a lot of people in this school don’t understand my viewpoint on why I don’t like it,” junior Ali Potts said. “I did the speech going back to back against Madelyn Stevens, and she did why country music is the best.”
Senior Atreyu Doll said he took the elective Business Essentials because it was beneficial for his future.
“I wanted to learn more about business and what they do and how to start one up,” Doll said. “I do plan on starting a business of my own.”
