On Aug. 30, the football season began at the annual jamboree in Clearwater. CSHS played both Clearwater and Wichita Trinity. In a jamboree, teams run nine plays in a row before switching. This setup caused some challenges.
“We only ran 18 total offensive plays,” senior Cade Howell said. “It’s hard to correct people because you’re not running enough plays and there’s not enough people.”
While that may have been a struggle, the team came away with many positives.
“We had more yards than all the other teams, and we did really well on defense,” senior Gage Schmitt said.
Howell said he struggled some individually..
“I think I performed pretty well, but I think I was overthinking a lot,” he said. “I was thinking about my keys too much and not just playing football.”
Throughout the season, players said there are specific teams they are looking forward to playing against.
“I’m excited for the Medicine Lodge game because I know they are coming with vengeance and I want to show them up again,” junior Ashton Stull said.
