On Sept. 6, Conway Springs played Nickerson for the first home game of the season. The Cardinals beat Nickerson 42-0.
“We communicated really well as a team and made sure everyone knew what was going on and what to do,” senior lineman Cooper Koster said. “If there was a mistake, we were always there for each other.”
Junior Konner Bidwell said the team needed to work on communication.
“As a team, probably work on communication with like plays and stuff,” he said. “Make sure we’re calling out backers, and make sure we’re making holes as linemen.”
After playing Nickerson, the team went to Garden Plain and won 13-7. Even though the team is starting out 2-0, they said there are still areas they are looking to improve.
“[To improve we need to] just have discipline, so we’re all on the same page,” freshman Bryce Osner said.
On Friday, Conway Springs is playing Douglass for homecoming. The ceremony will start at 6:30 p.m. with the game following after at 7 p.m.
