Broforce is a side-scrolling run-and-gun platform video game that was released on October 15, 2015, with decently high ratings all across the board generating 24 million dollars in revenue in the 9 years it’s been out. Broforce is a game I hold incredibly near and dear to my heart; it’s my favorite game ever for the last five or so years.
In the game, you play as a variety of different movie characters spanning from the early 1980s to 2010. This is the only game where you can play as Arnold Schwarzenegger and Chuck Norris together at the same time, and I think that is just so cool being a fan of all these old action movies.
This game is kind of like a parody of movies and other media that lean hardcore into the ‘American’ sentiment. It takes all these movie characters, buffs them up to the extreme, and somehow manages to get the word bro into all of their names (i.e. Rambro, Brobocop, Brominator) as well as injecting them with America-loving DNA. You and up to four players save the world from terrorists and save America from the wrath of Satan himself.
There are more than 35 completely different unlockable characters that you can use to go through the 70 levels spanning across 15 different worlds. Every world is completely different from the others, and there are always new enemies and obstacles being added to keep the gameplay fresh. I especially like how different each character is, making every single level feel new and different even almost 100 hours in, and even if you’re speeding through the game, a regular playthrough will still be over an hour.
I can’t forget to mention how every single boss in this game is incredibly unique and fun. It all just wraps together nicely to make one of the most unique experiences I’ve ever had with a video game and makes me not only suggest getting and playing this game but also beating it and doing every single thing to offer, it genuinely is that good.
Now get out there, bros, get this game, and kick some terrorist tail! I give this game five out of five Cardinal heads.
