Despite volleyball season being long over, the residents of Conway Springs have one fun tournament to look forward to in the spring. Held in honor of Jeanna Martin, the volleyball tournament is designed to help raise money for the scholarships handed out to select seniors at the end of the school year.
There are three levels to this tournament: a recreational level that allows people to just play for fun, an intermediate level, and a competition level for those who want to get extremely competitive.
One team was made up of high school students, who competed at the recreational level.
“We probably could’ve won a couple of games,” freshman Carson May said, “but I think we did pretty good for our first time.”
Despite the losses, all the students who participated said they still had fun.
“I had fun even though we lost every game,” freshman Addy Conkle said.
The tournament, like most sporting events, had its ups and downs for the team.
“I was happy when we scored points and made good blocks,” freshman Caleb Newell, “but I was sad every time someone hit the ball out.”
