On Feb. 10, the cheer team hosted a family-oriented dance for any guest in fifth grade and below, accompanied by their parents. This dance was put on to raise money for the cheer team’s upcoming season. The dance was an opportunity for fun for not only families, but for the cheerleaders as well.
“It was easy to set up, and I had fun with the kids,” senior Faith Kelly said. “I feel that dressing up made it even more fun.”
Although there was plenty of music to dance to, the cheer team also provided mini- games, crafts, and snacks to entertain the kids. The cheer team got to play these games with the kids, as well as teaching them new line dances and individual dance moves.
“I enjoyed dancing with the little kids,” freshman Joslin Bartelson said.
The cheer team started by put on a father/daughter dance and mother/son dance in previous years, but they decided to change it for a family-based dance so more families could participate. This was the first dance put on for the whole family, so there were a few cheerleaders who felt that a few improvements could have been made.
“I think we could have done better on the lighting,” junior Lacey Kelly said. “I would have liked to add some fairy lights to make it more peaceful and give it more of the dance feel.”
