On the night of Jan. 30, FCCLA held an event at the home basketball game. They sold hot cocoa and coffee to the attendees of the game. It was hosted by juniors Jan Stuhlsatz and Lacey Kelly, but all of FCCLA was involved to help make it happen
“We sold hot cocoa and coffee for our FCCLA Star event with profit going to the Mission Mart so they can give food to people in need,” Stuhlsatz said. “It was perfect because the concession stands weren’t selling it.”
People were also allowed to give donations directly to the Mission Mart so they could give larger amounts of money to help hungry people in need.
“The ability to donate to the Mission Mart directly at the game really helped out,” Kelly said. “Someone gave us a $20 donation.”
Even with the higher temperatures outside, the profit was still positive.
“It was successful,” Stuhlsatz said. “We made about $53 to donate, and that’s really good, especially with it being 60 degrees outside and about 10 to 20 more in the gym.”
