In the Art 2 class, teacher Jennifer Potts introduced a new project to her students. Students will have to dive into the world of steampunking. Steampunk is a type of art that takes technological like images and mixes it with Victorian art and design.
“We are trying to turn something mechanical into something beautiful,” Potts said.
Potts said she gave her students creative freedom with this project.
“I’m using acrylic paint as the medium,” senior Kaley Perkins said. “I can add a lot of color.”
The medium is what students used to make their projects. Students could choose tools like colored pencils, pens, acrylic paint, or watercolor paint.
“(At first I was) sketching,” junior Angie May said. “I will probably use paint or watercolors on a canvas.”
Potts said that every student’s project would get to be different, even though they have the same inspiration.
“The students like the idea that they get to choose the medium and they get to pick out what it is going to look like,” Potts said. “They enjoy that independence.”
