Shark Tank is a show where inventors bring a product to show to possible investors, which are called Sharks. The inventor then describes their product and asks for a Shark’s investment. In return, the Shark will receive partial ownership of the product and/or business.
This was what speech class did just before Thanksgiving break, but not only did they pitch a business or item, but they could also pitch an idea for a TV show/movie. Whichever one was chosen, a commercial had to be made to promote the product. This allowed the student to be creative.
“[My project is about] an arrow that has a GPS inside of it, so you don’t have to spend your money or unnecessary money on arrows that get lost in the ground,” junior Grant Fisher said. “I’m liking the project pretty well, because sometimes I have ideas like that and I’m never going to share them with anyone really.”
Like Fisher, junior Cooper Shobe also created an invention to solve a problem.
“You know, when you’re soldering stuff, like the smoke, sometimes it gets in your eyes, and the main purpose of my invention is to move it away from your eyes,” Shobe said.
Most students agreed that it was a decent project.
“[My invention is] a temperature bed,” junior Avery May said. “You can turn it on if you want to sleep hot. If you want to sleep cold, it’s also pretty good. Honestly, it’s not the best project, but I think it’s fun, something new.”
