Intro to Theater class, despite it being its first year existing, has been busy with multiple different projects. Teacher Tamara Salisbury, taking inspiration from the hit cooking show “Chopped”, instructed her class to create three different props that would be used in the annual fall play. The class created books, candles, and potion bottles all out of recyclable materials all while competing with each other to see whose would look the best.
Many students, even if they were not directly involved with the play, said they had fun creating these props.
“[I enjoyed it because] she kind of just gave us a base and let us use our own creativity to build our own individual projects,” senior Faith Kelly said.
Although the students had fun, many said they had hardships throughout the project.
“[The hardest part was] probably thinking of a design then having to make it out of random items,” sophomore Zayden Zoglmann said.
The competition aspect of the project added a desire to do good for the students. Sophomore Bethany Hollis ended up in first place, with sophomore Sydney Zoglmann one point behind in second.
Many also said that because the props would actually be used, they wanted them to look good.
“[I think the competition was a good addition] because we were very much a competitive bunch,” senior Riley Johnsen said. “But we still would have pushed hard because we wanted the play to look good because most of us are actors.”
