On Oct. 30, NHS held a blood drive. Math teacher Justin Regehr is an active member when it comes to donating blood. He has been donating for about three years. He donates in places like Wichita, but he said he thinks it is more convenient to donate in Conway.
Regher said he was inspired to donate blood after a family member of his was tragically injured in a car accident in 2022. After the accident, she had to receive lots of blood.
“After the accident, her family encouraged people to give blood in her honor to help save other people,” Regehr said.
Regher says that it is a good thing that students are able to give blood.
“I think it’s nice to start early, and then everyone can understand the positive impact it has on making a difference,” Regehr said.
For some people who are a bit wary about donating blood, Regehr has some advice.
“It is a short-lived discomfort to make an impact for potentially saving a life,” Regehr said.
