This year, the high school has four new teachers in the building, including Sierra Ardanche. Ardanche teaches English 9 and 11 and Oral Communications this year. This will be her first year teaching in her own classroom but not her first time in education. Before coming to Conway, she was a para at Circle Middle School.
“When I worked with my students before I was a teacher, I realized I liked watching my students succeed,” Ardanche said, “which really influenced me into wanting my own classroom someday.”
Ardanche got her bachelor’s degree in 2020.
“I got my bachelor’s at Friends in English and Literature and I’m working on my master’s at Fort Hays University,” Ardanche said.
Last school year, Debate was added as an elective option. However, it didn’t make it as a class this year with not enough interest.
“I’m looking to start a competition forensic and debate team maybe next year if there is interest,” Ardanche said.
Ardanche also said she wants to focus on getting to know her students and improving their skill sets.
“I love the small town community,” Ardanche said. “I hope to form a connection with all of my students and watch them grow and succeed in their reading and writing skills.”
