Imagine Superman, but instead, with a giant blue head. Believe it or not he exists, and his name is Megamind.

“Megamind”, released in 2010 by DreamWorks, is a cinematic masterpiece. The movie is coming back into the light by its recent addition to Netflix. “Megamind” was added to Netflix in 2019, but removed three months later. On October 1, “Megamind” was put back on Netflix. It is now listed in Netflix’s “Top 10” movies.

The storyline, cast, and soundtrack all play a part in what makes this movie so good.

The movie starts with a preface of baby Megamind and his sidekick, Minion. We also get an introduction to Metroman in this scene. We see that Metroman ends up with a nice, rich family, while Megamind bounces into a prison. He grows up in the prison, building gadgets and learning evil. Megamind’s school years were rough; everyone loved Metroman and was afraid of Megamind. As an adult, Megamind breaks out of jail and begins plotting his revenge on Metroman. After taking over the city, Megamind feels sad. Megamind, news reporter Roxanne Ritchi, and Minion must convince Metroman to forgive Megamind and come back as the city hero and defeat the newfound villain, Hal Stewart, also known as Titan.

The cast of the movie is well reflected in the characters. Will Farrell does an excellent job portraying Megamind’s evil turned hero role. Brad Pitt, Tina Fey, David Cross, Jonah Hill, and Ben Stiller all create a dream team cast. Also, all of the characters look similar to their actors, which makes all the difference in a movie.

Another great addition to the “Megamind” movie is the soundtrack. “Bad to the Bone,” “Back in Black,” “Highway to Hell,” “Crazy Train,” “Bad,” “Welcome to the Jungle,” and “Come as you Are” are all featured in “Megamind”. What is better than a movie with songs from AC/DC, Ozzy Osbourne, Micheal Jackson, and Nirvana? This soundtrack really resonates with the movie itself.

“Megamind” never gets old. The movie is jam packed with a story that will never not fascinate me. I believe that “Megamind” is the greatest family movie released in 2010, and the top five best family movies of all time. The writers of “Megamind” are Mega-geniuses. I rate this movie a 5 out of 5 cardinals.
