Both juniors and seniors got to enjoy their first prom this year. With quarantine cancelling the plans for last year’s prom, this year’s upperclassmen haven’t attended a Conway Springs Prom yet. This year, the theme was “The Roaring 20’s.” The Steering Committee worked several months planning Prom, but with the threat of it being cancelled again, tensions were high.

“It’s been good, but it’s also been stressful not wanting to mess up, and COVID has put a lot of restrictions on us,” junior Emma Zoglmann said. “I’m proud that we got a mostly normal prom with COVID stopping most of our other events.”

Despite this, all went well. Conway Springs’ 2021 Prom was held on Saturday, April 17. At 5:30 prom-goers started lining up their vehicles by the football field, and at 6 p.m. Prom Preview started. Everybody took turns walking in while onlookers could take photos. After the preview, students went inside the school and enjoyed a dinner provided by Hired Man’s.

“[Prom] could have been better, but it was still fun though,” junior Logan Warren said. “[I enjoyed the] food and the decorations were nice.”

The dinner was succeeded by the dance held in the gym, which ended at 10 p.m.

“I wish there was more refreshments during the dance because everybody was really thirsty,” senior Sydney Boese said. “I didn’t really care for the DJ, but I had a really good time with the walking in and the dinner.”

After a 30-minute break where prom-goers could go home and get dressed into casual clothes, After Prom started with door prizes being given out as people lined up to get inside. There was a snack bar in the commons area, and the gym was full of games and activities. Some of these activities included an obstacle course bouncy house, a painting station with canvases, ping pong tables, and more. At the end of the night, the grand prizes were announced and given out, and After Prom ended at 2:30 a.m.

“I enjoyed the painting during after prom,” Boese said. “I spent three hours at the table.”
