School District hires new math teacher

After the resignation of the former math teacher, the district high school hired a new math teacher, Jeff Lantz. Mr. Lantz is originally from Chapman, Kan., and went to Emporia State University for his Bachelor’s degree. He then went to Northwestern Oklahoma State University for his Master’s degree.

Lantz said he likes to analyze everything as if it were in a puzzle and has an answer he can solve. Whether he is coaching, playing sports, teaching or working on his house, Mr. Lantz uses this strategy with everything in his daily life. Lantz said he enjoys teaching the most.

“It’s the best thing in life to help me bring out the greatness in you,” he said. “[I enjoy teaching] when kids put all their hardships and complaints away, and let you explore life with the positive, fun, amazing people that they are.”

Mr. Lantz now teaches Principles of Algebra, Algebra 1, and Algebra 2. He said he enjoys Conway Springs High School so far; especially the people.

“[I enjoy the] people who want to make this a good place, who want to get along, and who want to be part of something awesome. People who are polite, selfless, and respectful. It’s not like that in every town or school,” he said.
