CSHS hosted the Regional tennis meet on Oct. 11 and 12. The girls’ hard work paid off in the end, sending the whole varsity team to state. The meet started at 11 a.m. and continued all day until about 6 p.m. With an all-day tournament, the girls had to persevere to ensure their spots at State.

“I was pretty nervous at first, but once I got there, I felt good,” senior and doubles player Nicole Campbell said. 

The girls then traveled to Kansas City to compete at State on Oct. 18. Coach Chris Bellar has been to State several times in the past and said he continues to have high expectations of his team to fight hard and do their best. Sophomore and singles player Loren May said she has similar expectations.

“When at State, I hope that all of our hard work from the beginning will be paid off in the end,” May said. 

The girls felt confident they could take a high ranking at the State competition. 

“The most nerve-racking part is always the first match. As a team, overall I hope we can place at least in the top two,” senior and doubles player Karlee Osner said.

 At State, the team fought hard throughout the day and on day two of competition, Osner, along with her partner senior Kara Koester, competed for the big win. It was a long set that kept many people on the edge of their seats, and the pair pulled through and took home the state championship in doubles. 

The team has placed in the top three at Sate every year the past three years, and taking home first was a great way to represent Conway Springs High School.
