Honor Society hosts coat and blanket drive
Posted on October 15, 2019
Conway Springs Honor Society is hosting a coat and blanket drive that will end Oct. 18. Donations made will later be given to the Salvation Army. The Salvation Army is an international organization that donates their time to making an impact to the less fortunate.
In this drive, the Honor Society is accepting donations of slightly used coats and blankets that will later be donated to those in need. As the temperatures are dropping, these coats and blankets are going to make a difference in some of their lives to help them bear the cruel weather ahead.
“We don’t really have a goal but I think we would have a good turn out,” senior and president Austin Gibbs said.
Each of the Honor Society members are responsible for coming up with his or her own project to help with either the community or surrounding areas. Senior Jaylee Meyer is the host of this coat drive and is confident that this will help the people in need.
“I like this drive because it’s different from the other projects in the past,” she said.
Honor Society is sponsored by counselor Louise Ronnau. Her job is to monitor projects and make sure the students’ hard work is recognized and done properly.
“I hope to see at least 10 items donated. I believe that if we made this an annual project people could count on donating if they come across items later on,” Ronnau said.
