The students from the Methodist church are having a fundraiser Dec. 15 from 2:30 to 8 p.m. Babysitting for children from ages 1-10 is offered for a free will donation. The group will have activities and food for the children.

The group is fundraising to help raise money for them to go on a trip to Savannah, Ga., this summer. One student going is sophomore Molly Bender, who has been on two other trips in the past.

“I like the program Youth Works,” Bender said. “They have good leaders and show us how to connect with the people there.”

The purpose of the trip is to help people that need help. Fifteen people will be going on the trip this year. Last year on the trip, they went to Rapid City, S.D. While there, they helped with food trucks, repaired homes, and helped with summer school for girls. To raise the money, they hold different fundraisers throughout the year.

“I like the fundraisers because they help a lot because we have to get quite a bit of money,” Bender said.

Students in the youth group can start going on the trips when they are in middle school through high school, and after graduating, they are not allowed to go unless they go to college for two years and come back as a helper.
