The high school hosted girls Regional tennis last Friday. The varsity team competed against Chaparral, Independent, Trinity Catholic, Classical School, Kingman, Neodesha, South Barber, St. Mary’s Colgan, and Douglass.

The meet was originally going to take place on both Friday and Saturday, but forecasts of possible rain caused it to be rescheduled to just Friday. However, this didn’t stop the ladies from dominating the courts and taking the gold. Juniors Kara Koester and Karlee Osner placed first in doubles, while senior Leslie Mies and junior Nicole Campbell took second. Senior Molly Schmanke placed third in singles, with freshman Loren May close behind in fourth place.

The Cardinals played Oct. 12-13 . Koester and Osner took third in doubles, Mies and Campbell took seventh, and Schmanke took ninth in singles.

“I’m pretty excited about state,” Schmanke said, “but it’s kind of sad knowing that this is my last high school meet ever.”
