On Saturday, April 30, state for solos and ensembles was held at Friends University. Only musicians who received an I rating at regionals could attend. CSHS had a total of seven students attend: four musicians performed solos, including three vocal and one saxophone, and four seniors  performed a mixed instruments quartet.

Seniors Nathan Doffing, Robin Heimerman, Ian Solomon, and Kenzie Wenke were the senior quartet members, and they received a I at the state level.

“ I felt great,” Solomon said. “ I mean we were there for a reason. We were good at playing.”

And for these four seniors, this was one of their last times playing for an audience. They said it was truly a bittersweet moment.

“It was kinda relieving but heartbreaking at the same time because I knew it was my last performance besides the practice,” Solomon said.

Hannah Zoglmann was another musician who made it to state with her vocal solos “She’s Like the Swallow” and “All Through the Night.”

“I was really nervous and just tried to calm down and get through the solo,” Zoglmann said.

Zoglmann got a II on her solo.
