As the end of the year nears, students have many things other than summer to look forward to. One of these things is prom. Junior Colby Koster was one of the two sophomores that attended prom last year.

“[I look forward to] going, just having everybody there is fun,” said Koster. “It’s a dance almost no one misses.”

This year’s prom theme is “A Night in Greece.” At the beginning of the year, the steering committee meets as one big group to come up with the theme. As the year gets closer to prom, the steering committee breaks up into two different groups to focus on specific things. One of the committees is the decoration committee; they are responsible for coming up with decorations for prom and coming up with song ideas.

“[I am helping the steering committee by] doing all the decorations, and I’ve been coming up with ideas for the corners and colors,” said junior decoration committee member Kara Zoglmann. “We’ve got a DJ and photo booth, and we have ordered all centerpieces going on tables.

The other prom committee is the food committee. The food committee is responsible for getting the catering, making glasses that each prom attendee can bring home, and making the invitations.

This year’s sophomore prom attendees are Brayden Kunz and Olivia Lange. Both sophomores will help their class plan prom next year with their experience in already planning and attending prom. Kunz has been helping the food committee.

“[A challenge steering committee had faced is] keeping everything under the price and making it the best prom,” said Kunz. “[I look forward to] the food and the dancing. [I also look forward to] looking good and pulling up in the whip.”
