I just want to know: which Bruno hurt Disney? From telling Bruno to be quiet in “Luca” to the song “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” – which was an amazing song- in Disney’s latest movie “Encanto”, there is clearly some backstory there. But despite all the Bruno hatred that happened, I absolutely loved the movie “Encanto”.

I was personally excited to watch it, with its bright and pretty color schemes and astoundingly smooth animation. It had representation of multiple racial groups and talked about some serious topics that quite a few people suffer from. So, all that was left to do was wait for it to come out on Disney+, and it finally did on Dec. 24. Let me tell you, it was worth the wait.

“Encanto” takes place in a village hidden behind mountains in Columbia. The story follows the lives of the amazing Madrigals, who were blessed with special gifts to help their community thrive. All of the Madrigals, except one – Mirabel. All her life, Mirabel just wants to help the community and make her family proud, but in a household where your sister can lift churches and your cousin can shapeshift, it’s pretty hard. However, when Mirabel discovers that the family and its magic are in trouble, she decides that she will save the family and its Miracle.

I think this movie is very important, not just for little kids but for everyone. It shows that even if you feel ungifted or not special, you still have a part to play in the overarching story of life. This movie tells its amazing story in bright colors and amazing songs by Lin Manuel Miranda, and it will leave you feeling uplifted. The family themes are written incredibly, and the voice acting is full of emotion. The animation is one of the best I’ve seen in a while; the effort put into the designs and the small details make this movie feel real and definitely make it worth your time to watch. I give this movie a whopping 5 out of 5 cardinal heads.
